The first way I learned to practice one of the first blocks I ever learned.
The second motion of raising the arm from the hip sets up the blocking arm.
From there all I have to do to defend myself from a punch to the face is snap my arm up.
But there are many things that can go wrong so this block must be practiced, a lot.
That means in solo drills, with friendly partners and then with not so friendly partners.
And once it is down so that it can be used…It must be maintained…
