In this case, I block a heavy horizontal punch to my face with an Inside Hooking Block. This is immediately followed by the opposite arm ‘checking’. I literally hold his arm in place for a fraction of a second before countering.
When I block using the Inside Hooking Block, I make it a point to clear the punch away from the body. The inside of my arm is aligned with the outside of my shoulder when it is finished.
Just like yesterday’s drill, this block/check works best against a heavy punch.
